Beginning June 1st, 2022, the Wapakoneta Fire Department will be conducting flow tests of the hydrants in the sections of town that are located north of Auglaize and Middle Streets. The testing will continue throughout the month of June. Residents are advised to test their water for discoloration before using. Any discoloration should only last for a few minutes and is a result of the water mains being disturbed by higher-than-normal flows.
The department conducts these tests in a selected area each year in order to maintain accurate records of available water in emergency situations. These results are also used by industry to calculate water supply for new & existing sprinkler systems. These tests are also used by the insurance industry and are a part of the calculations for City of Wapakoneta’s ISO rating.
